The wind blew hard across the many seas.
A small boat fought the waves.
On the boat stood a boy named Rio D. Kaze.
He was 16 years old.
Rio had a dream: to reach the Final Horizon!
He wanted to be the strongest free soul.
Rio was calm, even in the storm.
He smiled. He often seemed funny without trying.
But inside, he hid sadness.
"Final Horizon, here I come!" he shouted over the wind.
He gripped the small wooden sword at his side.
He knew he was weak now.
But he was also very talented.
He had a very strong will.
The boat landed on a small island.
Rio jumped onto the sandy beach.
"Time to train!" he said.
He spent days training.
He swung his sword again and again.
He did push-ups until his arms burned.
He meditated to focus his spirit power.
Rio learned about different power types in his world.
There was spirit power, which everyone had a little of.
Some people had awakened abilities.
Rare families had bloodline powers.
And some found cursed weapons that gave them power.
Power wasn't everything.
Skill and training mattered a lot.
Even more than raw power.
Rio trained until he was stronger.
He met a girl named Lira.
She was being attacked by pirates.
Rio stepped in to help.
"Leave her alone!" Rio shouted.
The pirate captain laughed. "Who's going to stop us, kid?"
Rio showed no fear, he became scary when serious.
Rio charged.
He moved fast. His training was paying off.
He hit one pirate with his sword. The pirate fell.
The captain was strong.
He had an awakened ability.
He could make his skin as hard as rock.
The captain punched Rio. Rio flew back.
It hurt bad.
Rio stood up slowly. He felt the pain, but he wouldn't give up.
"Spirit Power: Swift Strike!" Rio yelled.
He focused his spirit power into his sword.
The sword glowed.
He attacked the captain again, the force knocked the captain back
The sword cut through the captain's rock skin.
The captain screamed. He fell to his knees.
The other pirates ran away.
Rio helped Lira up.
"Thank you," she said.
"I'm Rio. What's your name?"
"I'm Lira. I have nowhere to go."
"You can come with me," Rio said. "I'm going to the Final Horizon."
Lira smiled. "I'll join you!"
Lira had a sad past.
Her village was destroyed by the corrupt government.
She dreamed of revenge.
She could fight with fans that had razors for edges.
Rio and Lira worked together.
They found a bigger boat.
They needed a crew.
They sailed to a new island, called Port Azure.
Port Azure was a busy city.
Many people walked the streets.
Rio and Lira searched for strong fighters.
They found Kuro in a bar.
Kuro was big and strong.
He fought with a giant hammer.
He also seemed quiet and mysterious.
"I'm going to the Final Horizon," Rio said to Kuro. "Want to come?"
Kuro looked at Rio for a long time.
Then, he smiled a little. "Okay."
Kuro joined the crew.
He had his own reasons for wanting to leave.
Rio felt their deep bond growing.
They met Myra next.
Myra was a thief.
But she was a good thief.
She stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
She used her awakened abilities to move fast and become invisible.
Rio caught Myra stealing his wallet.
"I need that!" Rio said.
"So do I!" Myra replied.
Rio offered her a place on his crew if she returned the wallet
Myra rolled her eyes and gave back the wallet, then agreed to join.
They needed a navigator.
They found Zane studying maps.
Zane was very smart.
He knew everything about the seas and sky islands.
He dreamed of charting every place in the world.
Rio invited Zane to join.
Zane agreed quickly.
Now, Rio had a crew: Lira, Kuro, Myra and Zane.
They sailed the many seas, together as a crew, like a real family.
They faced strong enemies.
They fought in hard battles.
Rio learned about the world.
He learned about the corrupt world power that ruled from the shadows.
He learned about the old legends and lost civilizations.
Rio’s power grew through the hard battles, pushing himself and others beyond what was possible.
He often got close to near death.
His strong emotions fueled him.
Rio began to care for Lira.
He wanted to protect her.
She started to feel the same.
He sometimes felt jealousy when other people talked to Lira.
The crew traveled to a forbidden land.
They searched for ancient treasure.
They found a powerful cursed weapon.
But the weapon was too dangerous.
Rio made them promise not to use the cursed weapon
On a jungle island, the crew was attacked by government soldiers.
The soldiers wanted to capture Rio.
They said he was a threat to the world order.
Rio fought with all his strength.
His crew fought beside him.
But the soldiers were too many.
Rio and his crew were defeated.
They were captured and sent to prison.
Rio sat in his cell. He was angry and sad.
He felt like he had failed.
His friends were hurt because of him.
But he refused to give up.
He would escape.
He would become stronger.
He would reach the Final Horizon.
Rio escaped. His friends followed.
He was filled with renewed resolve, a legend being created, one where freedom would trump control.
They had suffered a great loss, but this was merely the beginning to the ongoing anime-style fantasy adventure story.
